ROUTE OF INTENSIVE DIFFICULTY MOUNTAINOUS Circular cycling route for mountain bike, with a total length of 28.75 km, in a mountainous area, with a maximum altitude difference of 485m. The route is ideal for mountain biking, designed for skilled riders and divided into 8 sections, of which 8.65 km asphalt and the remaining 20.10 km on dirt road. The first part of route with a length of 2,60 km, paved throughout its length, begins from PORTO CARRAS SITHONIA 5*, follows for 1,45km the sideways or bicycle paths of the Resort’s main road, alongside PORTO CARRAS MELITON 5*, passes from the ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES and the GOLF COURSE and heads to the MAIN GATE, at an altitude of 20m. Then, turning right and heading south, the route passes through the pine trees for 1,15km, ending up to the WINERY (reaching an altitude of 74m. with slopes of up to 11%). The second part of the route, with a length of 3,50 km, heads around the Winery on the uphill road for 0.85 km - with a slope that in places reaches 11% - in pine land, reaching an altitude of 110 m. Then, moving slightly downhill on a dirt road of 2.65 km length, through wooded areas, olive groves, and vineyards, the route ends at BEES NESTS at an altitude of 75 m. The third section of the route, of 5.05 km length, continues east on dirt roads through wooded areas and vineyards, passing by the METEO STATION and heading towards - with slopes of less than 8% - to the point STRAVOLAKA’S STREAM at an altitude of 244 m. Here the cyclist can rest and admire the panoramic views of the Resort and the Gulf of Neos Marmaras. The fourth section of the route, with a length of 2.90 km, is the most difficult and demanding part, as it is uphill all the way, with a slope 8-9%, up to an altitude of 435 m. Moving along a dirt road through vineyards towards the south, passes from the point “CABERNET SAUVIGNON “VINEYARD with altitude 345 m and continues through a pine area, constantly climbing up, to the point CROSSROADS at an altitude of 435 m. The cyclist can either continue the trail downhill or uphill for another 0.90 km to MELITON’S PEAK- at an altitude of 490 meters - and a kiosk with spectacular views of Sithonia, Kasandra and Toroneos Gulf. The fifth section of the route, of a length of 5.30 km, is downhill all the way on dirt roads, passing through a dense pine area from the point PORTO CARRAS BORDERS, with an altitude of 275 m and runningup to the last 1.10 miles through vineyards, leads to a door of the DOMAINE PORTO CARRAS on the National Highway at an altitude of 141 m. The slopes are approximately 9%, but in small groups they reach 14%. The sixth section, 4.20 km of length, continues from the DOMAINE door, vertically across the National Highway and follows the dirt road opposite. The path - 2.85 km of length – moves downhill through vineyards and olive groves until the area CAPE, at an altitude of 23 m. Then, for another 1.25 km, the route goes along the coast, passing through many natural coves, resulting in COVE area at an altitude of 23 m. At this part of the route the slopes do not exceed 5%. The seventh and final part, of a length of 5.20 km, continues along the coast, passing through COTTAGES, the natural coves called LIMANAKIA, beach KOHI and KOHI KOHI CLUB, goes around the MARINA in front of the KIDS FUN PARK, the shopping area and the OLYMPIC HALL Convention Center and from the main road of the Resort, leads to the starting point at PORTO CARRAS SITHONIA 5 *. This part is relatively flat and slopes do not exceed 6% for short lengths. |
