ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECOLOGY TOURISM IN PORTO CARRAS

The Porto Carras complex, one of the largest tourist resorts in Europe, is located in Sithonia peninsula in Chalkidiki and is the centre of tourist activity of the TECHNICAL OLYMPIC Group of Companies that acquired the resort in 1999.

During the past five years, important new projects such as the rearrangement, renovation, development and exploitation of infrastructures, have brought the legendary resort to the centre of the Greek and international tourist scene.

International accreditation was granted following the hosting of the European Summit Meeting in June 2003.

Porto Carras covers an area of 17.630 hectares, with tourist facilities covering 130.000 sq.m. with 9 km of coast, 25 private bays including the borders of the largest organic vineyard in Greece (of 4.750 hectares) which, along with 50.000 olive trees make the largest and most original Rural tourism operation.

The main goal of the complex was and is to provide ecology and alternative tourism all year round paying respect to the natural environment and ecological balance.
